LONDONTHORPE AND HARROWBY WITHOUT PARISH COUNCIL
THE TOM CHILDS’ MEMORIAL AWARD
INTRODUCTION
1. Mr Tom Child was a citizen of Grantham for 50 years and was employed as the Clerk to Londonthorpe and Harrowby “Without” Parish Council for 29 Years. Tom spent much of his life involved in his local community and gave a great deal of his time helping others. Tom sadly died in June 2004, and is still very much missed by his family, friends, colleagues on the Parish Council and the people of the local community. The Tom Childs’ Memorial Award has been created by the Londonthorpe and Harrowby Without Parish Council to serve as a lasting memorial to Tom’s life, to promote community spirit and to encourage people of all ages to help others. ‘The Tom Childs’ Memorial Award’ is to be awarded annually to two people within the Parish who are considered to have contributed the most to his/her local community during the qualifying year. The Parish Council is now seeking nominations for this Award.
ABOUT THE AWARD
2. The award will be presented to two members of the Parish in the following age groups: 21 and under, over 21. The recipients and their guest will be invited to attend an Award’s lunch, at which the recipients of the Award will each be presented with a framed certificate and a cheque for £200, which will go to their nominated charity. The Award will be awarded to an individual who has given exceptional service beyond the call of duty and is not awarded solely for the performance of normal duty or work.
ELIGIBILITY
3. All people who live within the Parish boundary in the age groups listed above are eligible for the Award. Individuals who live outside the Parish boundary, but who through their activities support an individual/s or an organisation/s within the Parish are also eligible.
NOMINATIONS
4. Nominations for the Tom Childs’ Memorial Award are to be submitted to the address below by 1st May 2021, using the enclosed proforma. The successful nominees will be informed that they have been chosen to receive the Award before 25th May 2021. (This can be extended by the committee responsible.)
5. All submissions and queries regarding the Tom Childs’ Memorial Award should be directed to the Parish Clerk.
